The Enugu State Government has announced that the 37th Enugu International Trade Fair will commence on March 21 and run until March 30, with a strong focus on strengthening micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) for global competitiveness.
The announcement was made by the outgoing President of the Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ECCIMA), Odeiga Jideonwo, during the chamber’s 52nd Annual General Meeting held at its secretariat in Enugu.
According to Jideonwo, the fair will be held under the theme “Empowering MSMEs for Global Competitiveness,” with detailed strategies and a clear implementation roadmap already in place to ensure a successful outing. He said preparations were well underway, with marketing activities having commenced through both direct and indirect channels.
“The 37th Enugu International Trade Fair has been scheduled to hold from Saturday, March 21 to Monday, March 30, 2026. Comprehensive strategies and a clear roadmap for the successful hosting of the fair have been developed, and implementation is already in progress,” he said.
Jideonwo urged government agencies, private sector organisations, and international partners to actively participate in the fair, describing it as a landmark event deliberately structured to deliver value across all stakeholder groups.
He also commended the Enugu State Government for its visible and sustained commitment to urban renewal and infrastructure development across the state, particularly in education, road construction, transport infrastructure and tourism.
The ECCIMA president further praised the state for improving its business climate, noting that Enugu ranked third nationwide in the 2025 Presidential Ease of Doing Business Ranking.
“This achievement stands as a testament to the administration’s commitment to reforms, efficiency and service delivery, and its drive to position Enugu State as a competitive and business-friendly destination,” he said.
Declaring the AGM open, Governor Peter Mbah, represented by the Commissioner for Commerce, Investment and Industry, Sam Ogbu-Nwobodo, called on ECCIMA and the wider business community to continue supporting the state government’s development agenda.
He assured stakeholders of the government’s openness to engagement and reforms that would further enhance economic growth and create more opportunities for MSMEs in Enugu State
