The Abia State government has announced a partnership with the Enterprise Development Centre, Office of the First Lady, and Abia State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation to train about ten thousand women from Abia. The program aims to focus on capacity building and business support programs, with a particular emphasis on equipping participants with essential information technology skills for future endeavors.
According to Prince Okey Kanu, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, the program will soon commence calls for applications, targeting capacity building for Abians in various areas, including SMEs and standalone IT experts. The government’s goal is to ensure that as many people as possible acquire IT skills that will be beneficial in the future.
Additionally, Governor Otti has sponsored the participation of 26 individuals in Cyber Security Certification examinations, facilitated through the state Ministry of Digital Economy and SMEs. This initiative aims to increase the number of cyber security experts and strengthen digital infrastructure within the state, aligning with the current era of digital technology and artificial intelligence. The presence of skilled cybersecurity professionals is crucial for maintaining security in all necessary aspects of governance.
