The African Development Bank’s Youth Entrepreneurship and Innovation Multi-Donor Trust Fund (YEI MDTF) has approved a $999,000 grant to launch the MicroGREEN project, aimed at fostering green job opportunities for women, youth, and people with disabilities in Ghana and Senegal.

The project seeks to empower marginalized groups involved in managing natural resource sectors such as agroforestry, fisheries, and biodiversity, by providing them with up to 500 green job opportunities and business development services.

Over a two-year period, the project will equip at least 1,000 youth aged 15-35, with a focus on female youth-led initiatives (60%), individuals with disabilities/special needs (10%), and other youth (30%), with entrepreneurship capacities and business skills.

Implemented by Invest in Africa, the MicroGREEN project will utilize value chain-based SME development models to enhance employment creation, ensure the sustainability of micro-enterprises, and integrate beneficiaries into economic systems.

The project leverages Invest in Africa’s expertise in market access, skills development, and access to finance to drive sustainable business growth and job creation in the target sectors in Ghana and Senegal.

Established in 2017, the YEI MDTF aims to promote innovation and entrepreneurship and create durable and sustainable jobs for youth in Africa, aligning with the African Development Bank’s Jobs for Youth in Africa Strategy. This strategy aims to create 25 million jobs and equip 50 million youth with employable and entrepreneurial skills by 2025.
