AI4FS Project to Empower Nigerian Females in AI and STEM

The AI4FS initiative, led by Summit University in Offa, Kwara State, aims to establish a hub for females in Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Nigeria, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 4, 5, and 10. The project focuses on addressing the skills gaps and barriers that females face in STEM-related fields through a collaborative hub-spoke model involving universities and industry partners.

 

 Key Objectives

  1. Promote Gender Equality in STEM:

   – Aligning with SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), the project aims to empower women by providing AI knowledge and skills, reducing the gender gap in STEM fields.

  1. Quality Education:

   – Supporting SDG 4 (Quality Education), AI4FS offers training, workshops, and internships to enhance the educational and professional capabilities of females in technology and science.

  1. Industry and Academic Collaboration:

   – The initiative builds on the existing partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University, UK, and involves spoke universities and industry partners to offer practical and academic immersion opportunities.

 

Program Components

– Training and Workshops:

  – Focused sessions on AI and STEM subjects to build foundational and advanced skills.

– Industry Immersion:

  – Practical exposure and experience in industry settings to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world applications.

– Academic Immersion:

  – Opportunities for females to engage in academic research and development in AI and STEM fields.

– Internship Opportunities:

  – Hands-on internships to provide work experience and enhance employability in STEM industries.

 

 Participation and Opportunities

– Fully Funded Scholarships:

  – Scholarship opportunities are available for both males and females to pursue STEM programs at Summit University, Offa.

 

– Open Enrolment:

  – Enrolment is open for various STEM-related programs at the university.

 

 Call to Action

– Individuals and Organizations:

  – Both individuals and corporate organizations are invited to join the AI4FS project to support and empower females in STEM fields.
