In a remarkable stride towards youth empowerment, the Anambra State Government has kickstarted the ‘One Youth, Two Skills’ program by granting 5,000 trained youths a substantial seed capital of two billion naira. Governor Professor Chukwuma Soludo personally presented the cheques during a ceremony celebrating the achievement of the first batch.
Governor Soludo highlighted that, by forming cooperatives, participants can access special funding through the Anambra State Small Business Agency (ASBA) to further develop their enterprises. This opportunity extends to grants of up to five million naira for those aiming to scale up their businesses.
Emphasizing that human capital is the state’s greatest asset, the governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to sustainable empowerment. He sees the youth as pivotal to the state’s future.
Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Agha-Mba, announced the imminent commencement of the program’s second phase. He anticipates that within two years, many of the beneficiaries will transition into employers, reflecting the program’s transformative potential.
Professor Chinedu Onyeizugbe, Deputy Director of UNIZIK Business School, outlined the comprehensive curriculum designed to enhance trainees’ skills in crucial entrepreneurial and business management areas. This includes courses on personal development and critical thinking skills.
The ceremony culminated in a symbolic presentation of certificates and cheques to the beneficiaries, marking a significant milestone in their entrepreneurial journey. This initiative promises to foster a new generation of empowered business leaders in Anambra State.
