The Anambra State Government has approved a budget of N97,087,625 for the development of a state-owned Solution Data Platform, aiming to strengthen governance through data-driven decision-making. This decision was reached during the 34th Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) meeting, with the announcement made by Dr. Law Mefor, Commissioner for Information.
“The Anambra State Solution Data Platform will be developed by Octave Analytics and Insights Ltd for N97,087,625,” Dr. Mefor shared in a statement. Although a project completion timeline hasn’t been provided, this platform forms part of a broader strategy to leverage technology in governance.
The Solution Data Platform is designed to improve data management processes, giving the state a robust tool to track and address critical issues like security, infrastructure, and public service delivery. By integrating data across various sectors, the platform will allow decision-makers real-time access, enhancing the state’s ability to implement policies and respond to challenges effectively.
In addition to the data platform, the Anambra State Government has approved several other projects to boost security, develop a master plan for heritage sites, and upgrade infrastructure at educational and healthcare facilities. These initiatives align with the state’s broader mission to attract investment, drive economic development, and improve public safety.
As part of Anambra’s ongoing security efforts, the State Police Command recently dismantled a criminal hideout in Lilu, Mbosi, in Ihiala Local Government Area. Just days before, police had found and safely removed five unexploded improvised explosive devices (IEDs) near Umunze Police Station in Orumba South LGA, indicating an intensified security alert in the region.
State Police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga explained that the Lilu raid was based on intelligence gathered over time and involved multiple security agencies. During the operation, authorities seized three more unexploded IEDs, two abandoned vehicles, and other materials linked to explosives, underscoring the organized nature of security threats in Anambra.
These combined efforts reflect Anambra State’s commitment to fostering an environment that prioritizes economic growth and security, aiming to create a more connected, efficient, and secure community for its citizens.
