Call For Applications: British Council Film Lab Africa Accelerator Program 2025 for Nigerian Filmmakers and TV Producers
Share

Applications are now open for the British Council Film Lab Africa Accelerator Program 2026, a flagship initiative designed to support emerging Nigerian filmmakers, screenwriters, and TV producers with the skills, exposure, and industry connections needed to build sustainable careers in film and television.

Launched in 2023, Film Lab Africa focuses on strengthening Africa’s creative economy by equipping a new generation of storytellers to create compelling, globally relevant content while amplifying African narratives on international platforms.

Why This Program Matters

Nigeria’s film and television industry continues to shape global conversations, yet many young creatives struggle with access to funding, mentorship, and international networks. Film Lab Africa bridges this gap by combining training, mentorship, production support, and showcasing. It helps participants move from script to screen, connect with local and international experts, and position their work for wider audiences in Nigeria, the UK, and beyond. For emerging creatives, this is a pathway to visibility, collaboration, and long-term career growth.

What Film Lab Africa Offers

Participants benefit from a structured accelerator experience that includes:
• Capacity-building in screenwriting, producing, directing, and digital storytelling
• Script-to-screen development for short films and episodic content
• Writers’ residency and mentorship with Nigerian and international industry experts
• Opportunities for industry engagement, collaboration, and cultural exchange
• Showcasing of selected works locally and internationally
• Exposure to conversations around inclusion, policy, and climate storytelling

Eligibility

The program is open to Nigerian emerging creatives who:
• Are screenwriters, filmmakers, or TV producers
• Have demonstrable interest or experience in film, television, or digital content creation
• Are committed to developing original African stories for local and global audiences
• Can participate fully in the training, mentorship, and development process

Specific eligibility requirements may vary slightly depending on the lab you apply for.
