Call For Applications: Dr. Kole Shettima Innovation in Democracy Challenge ( ₦500,000 Prize)

The Dr. Kole Shettima Innovation in Democracy Challenge is part of a bold new effort to reimagine and strengthen democracy across West Africa. This Challenge is designed to identify, support, and scale youth-led innovations that reimagine democratic engagement in Nigeria.

Program:

 

  1. Virtual Acceleration Program: 12 selected teams will participate in an intensive Virtual Acceleration Program, where they will receive capacity building, mentorship, and technical support to refine their civic tech or democratic innovation.
  2. Civic Hackathon Pitch: After the acceleration phase, 6 top teams will be invited to present their solution at a live Civic Hackathon in front of expert judges and key stakeholders.
  3. Seed Funding for Winners: The top 3 winning teams from the Hackathon will receive ₦500,000 each in seed funding to scale their solutions and deepen their impact.

Eligibility:

  • The solutions focus on accountability, elections, civic engagement, or youth participation
  • Should leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Technology
  • Must be SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-bound) and clearly justifiable Solution.
  • Only solutions from Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba or Yobe State are accepted.
