Call For Applications: Enugu Magic Labs Animation Training (EMAT) Program, Batch 2
Share

The Enugu State Government, in collaboration with Magic City Labs and Magic Lab Academy, has officially launched Batch 2 of the Enugu Magic Labs Animation Training (EMAT) program. This six-month educational initiative aims to train over 400 Nigerian youths in 2D illustration and 3D motion design, equipping them with high-income digital skills for the growing animation industry.

“Animation is the future, and Enugu is not watching from the sidelines,” said a representative from the Enugu SME Center. “We’ve been so impressed by the progress of our current EMAT trainees, the creativity, the discipline, and the hunger to learn. That’s why we’re excited to announce that Batch 2 is now open!”

With the global animation industry currently valued at over $394 billion, this program is a strategic move to place Enugu youths at the heart of the global creative economy. Through the Enugu SME Center, the state government is providing up to 80% subsidized tuition, making the program accessible to talented individuals with a passion for storytelling and design.

The EMAT program is not just another training scheme, it’s a career launchpad. Magic Lab Academy, a globally recognized studio, already boasts over 500 alumni working at top studios like Netflix, Disney, and leading African media companies. Their practical, hands-on approach has made them a key player in developing Africa’s animation talent pipeline.

“This program is more than just a class,” said a Magic Labs Academy official. “It’s a bridge to the creative tech industry in Africa.”

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible participants must be Nigerian youths aged between 16 and 45, either employed or unemployed, with the ability to read and write.
  • They must also have access to a computer that meets specific technical requirements: a Core i5 processor, 8GB RAM, 16GB free disk space,
  • And a hardware-accelerated OpenGL graphics card running Windows 7 to 11.

Benefits

The EMAT program offers a unique opportunity for digital skills development, career growth, and potential remote job opportunities across the animation sector. With skills in 3D motion graphics and 2D illustration in high demand, participants stand to gain from this highly practical and professional training.
