The Government Enterprise & Empowerment Program (GEEP) is a Federal Government of Nigeria initiative that provides interest-free, collateral-free loans to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), farmers, artisans, traders, and youth entrepreneurs across the country. (Administered by the Bank of Industry under the National Social Investment Programme).

👉 Apply here: https://geep.nsipa.gov.ng/

GEEP is designed to boost financial inclusion and support business growth for Nigerians who struggle to access traditional credit.

Why This Loan Matters

Small business owners often lack access to affordable finance, limiting their ability to grow operations, buy inputs, expand stock, or improve productivity. GEEP offers a soft-loan alternative with no interest charges, helping MSMEs and farmers overcome this barrier and scale sustainably.

Loans are structured to support real business needs, not just emergency cash, and are repaid over manageable terms with a moratorium period (delay before repayment starts) to allow businesses to generate income first.

What the GEEP Loan Offers (Benefits)

✔ Interest-Free Loans

Loans of up to ₦300,000 are available through GEEP’s sub-products with no interest, reducing borrowing costs for entrepreneurs.

✔ No Collateral Required

Applicants typically do not need traditional collateral to access these loans, making them more accessible to small enterprises.

✔ Support Across Sectors

GEEP supports a range of business types — petty traders, market women, artisans, youth entrepreneurs, and farmers — helping spread economic opportunity.

✔ Repayment Flexibility

Most loans include a moratorium period (e.g., 3 months) before repayment begins, giving businesses time to generate cash flow.

Types of GEEP Loans

GEEP’s loan products include:

  • TraderMoni – micro-credit for petty traders and artisans; loan amounts start small and can grow after repayment.
  • MarketMoni – loans (e.g., ₦50,000–₦100,000) for market women and medium-scale business owners with associations/cooperatives.
  • FarmerMoni – higher loan amounts (up to ₦300,000) specifically for small-scale farmers to buy inputs or expand operations.

These products target different segments of the Nigerian economy from grassroots entrepreneurs to agricultural producers.

Who Can Apply (Eligibility)

To be considered for a GEEP loan, you typically must:

  • Be a Nigerian citizen aged 18 and above.
  • Have a valid Bank Verification Number (BVN) and active bank account.
  • Operate a micro or small business or be engaged in productive activities (trading, farming, artisan services, etc.).
  • Be part of a registered association or cooperative (for some products), especially for MarketMoni.

Some programs also conduct enumeration or verification exercises to confirm qualifications before loans are disbursed.

How to Apply (Step-by-Step)

  1. Visit the Official GEEP Portal:
  2. Create/Log in to Your Profile
Register with your details, BVN, and valid phone number.
  3. Select Loan Product
Choose the option that matches your business profile (TraderMoni, MarketMoni, FarmerMoni).
  4. Complete the Form
Provide all required business and identification information accurately.
  5. Submit & Wait for Verification
Some applicants are contacted for enumeration and verification before disbursement.
  6. Receive Notifications
Successful applicants receive alerts and instructions on loan terms and repayment schedule.

Tips for a Successful Application

  • Ensure your BVN and bank account are valid before applying,  this is often verified.
  • Prepare your business details clearly:  type of activity, location, expected use of funds.
  • Join a registered business association or cooperative if required (especially for MarketMoni).
  • Follow up on enumeration or verification requests from programme officers.
