Call For Applications: Goethe-Institut Nigeria Support & Connect Program 2024

The Goethe-Institut Nigeria supports Nigerian solo artists, collectives, and cultural experts in implementing their projects.

For the past years, the Goethe-Institut Nigeria has supported a wide range of projects created and implemented by Nigerian artists and initiatives in various art forms: music, contemporary dance, photography, films (documentary), theatre, visual arts, literature and many more. Goethe-Institut Nigeria also supports artists and cultural experts who are invited as participants to festivals or cultural projects in Germany or on the African continent but do not have enough funding to join.

They regard this support as a very crucial and important one to give young and upcoming artists in the cultural landscape of Nigeria a chance to be heard and seen.

Funding

  • Art and Culture Projects: up to 5,000 EUR each
  • Art and Culture Festivals: up to 5,000 EUR each
  • Art and Culture Travel Grant: up to 2,500 EUR each

Eligibility

Art and Culture Projects

  • Solo artists or collectives who have worked professionally (with at least 3 years of experience), and who want to organize an arts or cultural project in Nigeria.
  • The project idea has to be already developed and has reached a certain level of preparation.
  • The project has to be implemented during the year 2024 and latest be completed by December 10, 2024
  • Only completely and correctly filled out application forms will be considered.

Art and Culture Festivals

  • Open to art and culture festivals taking place in Nigeria.
  • The festival has to be at least in its third year.
  • The festival has to be implemented during the year 2024 and latest be completed by December 10, 2024.
  • Only completely and correctly filled out application forms will be considered.

Art and Culture Travel Grant

  • Open to individuals who already received an official invitation to a cultural festival/event/project in Germany or in any African country.
  • The host organization in Germany/an African country has to be responsible for accommodation and other living expenses for the period of time you would be at the event.
  • The travel has to be during the year 2024 and latest completed by December 10, 2024
  • Only completely and correctly filled out application forms will be considered.

Application

Application documents include:

  • Application Form including budget plan
  • CV of the project leader/visiting artist
  • Further references and material
  • Passport photograph copy
