Call For Applications: Grand Challenges Nigeria Advancing Innovative Solutions for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health( N60 Million per grant)
Share

Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation, is confronting some of the most urgent health and development challenges in the world. Among the most critical of these is achieving substantial improvements in maternal, newborn, and child health. Despite various interventions over time, the country continues to face some of the highest maternal and child mortality rates in the world, with unrelenting poor indicators of morbidity, undernutrition, and human development. These challenges are deeply intertwined with poverty, limited access to healthcare, and a suboptimal food system. This Request for Proposals (RFP) by Grand Challenges Nigeria (GCNg) aims to drive bold, innovative solutions to improve Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health, thereby accelerating progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals and a healthier future for all Nigerians.

RFP Objectives and Funding Opportunity

GCNg seeks to identify and support innovative, scalable ideas and interventions that leverage local contexts to address critical challenges in maternal, newborn, and child health, ultimately prioritizing human health and development. This RFP will provide seed grant funding up to Nigerian Naira 60 million per grant for a 12 to 15-month project implementation period. The final grant amount awarded will be determined based on the specific needs, scope, and proposed budget of the project. Applicants are encouraged to submit realistic budget proposals that reflect the actual costs required to achieve their project goals. A maximum of ten (10) projects will be funded.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

Eligible applicants must be affiliated with registered Nigerian institutions or organizations and have a proven track record of work in maternal, newborn, and child health. Projects must be implemented in Nigeria. We encourage applications from local and international collaborations; however, the lead applicant must be Nigerian. See the ‘Rules and Guidelines’ document for more information.

What We Are Looking For

GCNg will prioritize projects that address a significant issue affecting large populations, are capable of creating lasting impact, and are designed for scalability. Proposals should show active stakeholder involvement to ensure the relevance and effectiveness of proposed interventions.

This RFP is a strategic investment in Nigeria’s future, aiming to foster a new generation of innovators, improve health outcomes, and drive sustainable development across the country.

You can access the full Request for Proposal and supporting documents below.
