The Interdisciplinary Network for Technology and Entrepreneurship Research in Africa (INTERA) is now accepting fellowship applications for the 2025/2026 academic year. This opportunity is designed for both emerging researchers (including undergraduate, master’s, and PhD students) and experienced researchers (at the postdoctoral level and beyond) who are interested in engaging in collaborative, community-driven academic research.

Key Features of the INTERA Fellowship
- Open to:
- Emerging researchers (undergraduate to doctoral level)
- Experienced researchers (postdoc and above)
- Focus areas:
- Entrepreneurship
- Technology and innovation
- Business and management
- Anthropology and sociology
- Research must involve primary data collection, using:
- Qualitative methods (such as interviews, fieldwork, and ethnographies)
- Quantitative methods (such as experiments and large-scale surveys)
- Special preference is given to:
- Researchers affiliated with or studying at African universities or institutions
- Scholars conducting research within African societies and communities
Fellowship Commitments and Expectations
- Fellowship term: One year (with a possibility of renewal upon review)
- No monetary funding is currently provided with this fellowship
- Each emerging researcher will be paired with a dedicated academic mentor to support their intellectual growth and career progression
- Fellows are required to:
- Participate in and actively contribute to at least 10 out of 12 virtual workshops held throughout the year
- Support peer researchers by offering constructive feedback during workshops
- Assist with INTERA outreach and engagement initiatives, where feasible
Workshops are held every other month, with a focus on paper development, research feedback, and professional development in a supportive academic setting.
