The Mastercard Foundation, in partnership with the University of Global Health Equity (UGHE), is offering 500 fully funded Master’s scholarships to academically talented young Africans committed to transforming the continent’s health systems.
The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at UGHE offers opportunities for exceptional African scholars facing economic and social barriers, including young women, refugees, displaced persons, and individuals with disabilities, to pursue graduate studies in Global Health Delivery (MGHD) and Health Professions Education (MHPE).
The Mastercard Foundation–UGHE partnership aims to build a generation of transformative leaders who will advance health equity and drive systemic change across Africa. The initiative not only supports scholars financially but also equips them with leadership skills, mentorship, and networks to become catalysts for progress in their communities.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at UGHE, applicants must:
- Be African citizens, with special consideration for women, refugees, displaced persons, and individuals with disabilities.
- Have completed a Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field.
- Be 35 years old or younger at the time of application (exceptions may apply for persons with disabilities).
- Demonstrate transformative leadership potential and a strong commitment to advancing health equity.
- Show proven engagement in community service and impact beyond academics.
- Exhibit academic excellence and readiness for graduate-level study.
