The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) was established in 2010 by the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act. NCDMB is vested with the mandate to make procedures that will guide, monitor, coordinate and implement the provisions of the NOGICD Act signed into law on April 22, 2010.
The foundation for NCDMB was laid in 2001 when former President Olusegun Obasanjo inaugurated the Presidential Committee on Local Content in the Oil and Gas Industry.
The NCDMB Essay contest is open only to 100-200 level students in public and private tertiary institutions in Nigeria, including polytechnics and colleges of education.

To be considered for the competitions, you must meet the following conditions:
This contest is open only to 100-200 level students in public and private Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria – Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education.
The competition is open until August 31st. Completed manuscripts and accompanying documents must be submitted to www.ncdmbessay.ng on or before that date.
Late manuscripts will not be considered. Hardcopy submissions will not be accepted. (REGISTER ON WEBSITE FIRST).
Entrants must submit either a letter of admission or a signed letter of attestation from his/her Head of Department (HOD). VIEW AND DOWNLOAD
All essays must be original works specifically written for the competition.
Reward
Prizes will be awarded as follows:
₦1,000,000 for 1st place,
₦700,000 for 2nd place,
₦500,000 for 3rd and
All top 10 national finalists shall each receive a laptop
The winning essay will be published in the NCDMB’s in-house magazine, Local Content Digest.
How To Apply
Essays will be judged based on: Clarity of Expression, Spelling and Grammar, Originality of thought, Depth of Analysis, Relevance to Industry, and Conformity to Contest Rules.
All essays will be subjected to a plagiarism check (software application) to determine originality.
Short-listed candidates will be invited for a third and final interactive assessment on or before September 15, 2025.
The award/prize giving ceremony is on September 26, 2025.
The winning essay will be published in the NCDMB’s in-house magazine, Local Content Digest.
