Call For Applications: Nigerian Youth SDGs Activators Lab

The Youth Activators Lab is a one-year program for 74 young people between the ages of 18 and 29 who will work with the Network of Youth for Sustainable Initiative (NGYouthSDGs) to advocate for youth rights in Nigeria.  NGYouthSDGs focuses on education and capacity development, decent work and economic growth, and active citizenship. The Youth Activators Lab (YAL) is an upgrade of the NGYouthSDGs Champions Programme which began in 2019.

The 74 selected champions will work with NGYouthSDGs to advocate for meaningful youth engagement in policies and programs for young people to lead and thrive in Nigeria. The champions with support from NGYouthSDGs’ staff will design innovative campaigns focused on the agency of youth for sustainable development and engaging with policymakers and youth stakeholders for the rights of youth in Nigeria.

They are looking for young people passionate about creating an impact in their community and across Nigeria while working with other changemakers to make a difference with NGYouthSDGs. We will provide training for every champion focused on campaign, policy advocacy, stakeholder management, program design, communicating with the media, and fundraising. Champions get to codesign and implement programs with NGYouthSDGs in their states with the opportunity to attend events and engage with high-level stakeholders.

Responsibilities of Champions on the YAL Program:

  • Help to plan and deliver campaigns around youth rights
  • Work with NGYouthSDGs to deliver programs focused on the organization’s theory of change
  • Partner with the NGYouthSDGs team to plan events and social media actions on United Nations commemorative dates
  • Contribute to the NGYouthSDGs blog and policy briefs
  • Assist in identifying and mobilizing young people to advocate for youth rights.
  • Help NGYouthSDGs identify organizations in your community or state with similar values to deliver impactful programs for youth.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Emerging leaders between 18-29 years of age
  • Understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals and the potential to transform youth lives
  • Resident in Nigeria
  • Available to dedicate 8 – 10 hours monthly for the next one year
