The Obama Foundation Scholars Program offers emerging leaders from the U.S. and around the globe an invaluable opportunity to elevate their impact through a transformative nine-month experience. This program combines academic learning, hands-on projects, and skill-building activities to empower scholars to drive change in their communities.
Hosted by Columbia University in collaboration with Columbia World Projects and Columbia Global, the program’s curriculum blends leadership training, personalized support, and networking opportunities with guidance from accomplished leaders in various sectors.
Scholars will gain the insights, connections, and tools needed to broaden the impact of their work and invest their new skills, networks, and knowledge back into their communities.
The 2025 Obama Foundation Fellowship is fully funded, covering monthly stipends, furnished apartments, tuition, travel, and medical expenses, supporting scholars as they tackle complex challenges in their communities.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the 2025 Obama Foundation Fellowship, applicants should:
- Be emerging leaders who have already made a significant impact in their field and are at a pivotal moment in their careers.
- Have a demonstrated commitment to community service and leadership, with plans to bring new skills and connections back to benefit their communities long-term.
- Be fluent in English (both spoken and written).
- Demonstrate values like inclusivity, community focus, integrity, courage, strategy, and resilience.
