Sahara Power Group is seeking fresh engineering graduates for its Technical & Innovation Academy, a structured Graduate Engineering Programme that develops the next generation of power-sector professionals across its Egbin and FIPL plants.

If you’re an early-career engineer passionate about power generation, plant operations, and technical innovation, this academy offers you hands-on exposure, mentorship and a clear path to a strong career in the power sector.

Why This Program Matters

  • Sahara Power Group is one of the largest privately owned power companies in sub-Saharan Africa, with generation assets in key locations.
  • The academy gives graduates real exposure to power plant operations through rotational assignments, which helps them build both technical and business skills.
  • Mentorship from experienced engineers and fully sponsored accommodation means you can focus on learning and building capacity.
  • It’s not just a job — it’s a pipeline into future leadership roles in one of Africa’s most important energy firms.

What the Program Offers (Benefits)

  • Rotational Exposure: Work across different departments in power plants — operations, maintenance, projects — to understand the full value chain.
  • Mentorship: Experienced industry experts guide you throughout your journey, providing technical and career advice.
  • Fully Sponsored Accommodation: Comfortable lodging is provided, so you can focus on learning without worrying about housing.
  • Career Development: You’ll get a development plan, performance feedback, coaching, and a possible future role within Sahara’s power business.

Who Is Eligible (Eligibility)

To apply, you should meet the following:

  • A HND or Bachelor’s degree in core engineering disciplines (e.g. Electrical/Electronics, Mechanical, Instrumentation & Control, Power Systems, Mechatronics, Chemical, Metallurgical, Reliability Engineering)
  • 0–1 year of work experience (this is a graduate-level programme)
  • NYSC completion (for Nigerian graduates) by a specific date for some cohorts.

Location & Duration

  • Programme Locations: Ikorodu, Lagos and Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
  • Structured training combining classroom learning + real-world project work and rotations across power-generation departments.

How to Apply

  1. Visit Sahara Group’s Careers Page and navigate to the Technical & Innovation Academy / Graduate Engineering Programme.
  2. Prepare your application: CV, cover letter, academic transcripts, and NYSC certificate (if applicable).
  3. Submit your application online before the stated deadline. According to job portals, the deadline is 30 November 2025 for the 2025 intake.
  4. Wait for shortlisting; selected candidates may be invited for interviews or assessments.

Tips for a Strong Application

  • Highlight any project work or internships in your CV — practical experience is highly valued.
  • Explain why power generation matters to you and how this programme aligns with your career vision.
  • Be ready to talk about both technical skills and learning mindset — this is a training + development programme.
  • Emphasize teamwork, adaptability, and willingness to be “rotated” through different plant functions.
  • Prepare a strong cover letter that shows your understanding of Sahara Power Group’s mission and your role in it.
