Call For Applications: Stanford University Summer Internship For Nigerians (Up to $5,500 stipend)

The Stanford University Summer Internship is a fully funded opportunity for undergraduate students to engage in practical activities to consolidate their theoretical knowledge.

The Stanford University Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship provides students with housing, a meal plan, a travel stipend, and a $5,500 stipend upon completion of the program.

The Stanford University Summer Internship aims to build community and create a cohort of future graduate student engineers who can promote diversity of thought and experience within the engineering and science student body.

Since its inception, SURF has been a vehicle for undergraduate students to conduct scientific research and a foundation for them to pursue graduate studies in science and engineering.

While the 2024 SURF Fellows have returned to their home universities, they were engaged in research across science and engineering departments and contributed to groundbreaking research that tackles the major challenges of the 21st century.

Eligibility

  • Applicant MUST be a Nigerian
  • Applicant MUST be a student from the university of Ibadan.
  • Applicants MUST be Third-year student (who will complete their third year before September 2025).
  • Applicants MUST have First Class Honors with a cumulative grade point average of 70/100 or above.
  • Applicants MUST have demonstrated interest in research in biochemistry, microbiology, immunology, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
  • Applicants MUST be willing spend 8-10 ten weeks in a research training internship at Stanford University in the United States during the summer of 2025.

Benefits

The Stanford University SURF Internship provides students with;

  • housing,
  • a meal plan,
  • a travel stipend, and
  • a $5,500 stipend upon completion of the program.

Additionally, Student engagement in research increases

  • the retention of students in scientific research,
  • student interest in graduate school, and;
  • student interest in STEM careers.

To apply, candidates must be ready to submit the following documents;

  • Complete Application Form
  • Academic Transcripts
  • CV
  • Personal statement describing the following:
    • Your academic and research background.
    • Your future academic and professional goals, and how research training will contribute to the achievement of the stated goals.
