TurnUp Jigawa has opened applications for the Youth4Local Government Accountability Workshop under the Local Government Accountability and Performance (LGAP) Project. The 3-day workshop is designed to equip young leaders across all 27 Local Government Areas of Jigawa State with practical skills in governance monitoring, budget tracking, civic engagement, and accountability advocacy.
The initiative will train and empower 54 youth – two representatives from each LGA – positioning them as accountability champions who can strengthen transparency, influence development outcomes, and amplify citizen voices at the community level. Participants will deepen their understanding of local government operations and gain tools to monitor public spending and engage constructively with decision-makers.
About the Workshop
The Youth4Local Government Accountability Workshop is a capacity-building program that strengthens civic participation by empowering young people to play active roles in governance processes. Over three days, selected participants will engage in hands-on sessions, group activities, and advocacy exercises that prepare them to track performance, demand accountability, and support inclusive governance in their communities.
Why It Matters
