Share

The African Union International Center for Girls and Women’s Education has launched the call for applications for the Capacity Building Program of  Youth Champions on Gender Equality in Education: 2024 Session. The program, which has been running under the aegis of the Department of Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation of the African Union Commission, is in its 6th edition.

This flagship initiative of the AU CIEFFA was launched in 2017 and is geared at raising youth champions on girls’ education. It seeks to equip young Africans with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to advocate for gender equality in and through education and empower African youth to drive positive change in their communities.

The 2024 session will take place in November in Addis Ababa. This year, the program targets opinion leaders (social activists, youth leaders, web journalists, podcasters, content creators, youth representatives in policy spaces, youth activists advocating for girls & women’s education through social media) from across the continent to amplify the dissemination and implementation of the African Union Campaign, #AfricaEducatesHer.

Potential participants of the 6th Edition must;

  • Have demonstrated experience in youth leadership, advocacy, and social development issues;
  • Having active involvement in campaigns, initiatives, or movements promoting the education or rights of girls and women in Africa is an advantage;
  • Act as a young opinion leader, able to mobilize and inspire peers or the community through social media, community work, journalism, entrepreneurship, or activism;
  • Have experience in speaking at events, forums, or media engagements;
  • Be willing to share goals and vision of African Union CIEFFA on girls’ and women’s education;
  • Be a citizen of one of the 55 African Union Member States (23 to 35 years old);
  • Have a valid passport with at least 6 months’ validity and at least 3 blank pages;
  • Be available to participate in all sessions of the Youth Capacity Building workshop, including any preparatory work or follow-up activities.

Are you a strong opinion leader? Are you a community leader? Do you want to advocate for girls’ education in your communities? Then this program is for you.
