Chemical and Allied Products Plc (CAP Plc) has entered into a strategic partnership with the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) to elevate the status of professional painters in Nigeria.
Under the agreement, NABTEB will accredit the CAP Painters Academy and provide standardized national certification for trainees. The move is expected to give painters stronger recognition in the labour market, improving their employability and professional credibility.
The partnership was announced in Lagos during a two-day event marking the fifth anniversary of the CAP Painters Academy. Speaking at the celebration, CAP Plc’s Chief Operating Officer described the Academy as a flagship initiative designed to build human capital and strengthen the professional capabilities of painters. He reaffirmed CAP’s long-term commitment to empowering artisans and advancing vocational excellence.
Looking ahead, he said the Academy would continue to expand its programmes nationwide and deepen collaborations with industry stakeholders, ensuring Nigerian painters can compete globally and thrive as entrepreneurs.
He added that the Academy’s five-year milestone reflects both the progress achieved and the vision ahead. From a simple idea, the initiative has grown into a nationwide movement that has trained thousands of painters, raised industry standards, and created opportunities for young Nigerians. According to him, the ultimate goal is to position painting not just as a trade, but as a pathway to dignity, entrepreneurship, and lasting success.
Commending CAP Plc for its role in advancing vocational and technical education, NABTEB’s Chief Examination Officer said the collaboration highlights how the private sector can drive professionalization in key industries. He noted that accrediting the Painters Academy ensures graduates receive nationally recognized certification that enhances their credibility and employability, adding that NABTEB is proud to support the initiative.
