Cascador Expands Support for Nigerian Entrepreneurs with Funding, Training, and Mentorship
Share

Cascador, a program dedicated to scaling mid-stage entrepreneurs in Africa, has reinforced its commitment to Nigerian business owners by providing financial support, leadership training, and networking opportunities. At a recent alumni meeting in Ikeja, Lagos, the organization emphasized its focus on impact-driven entrepreneurship across the continent.

Founder Dave DeLucia highlighted Cascador’s mission to equip entrepreneurs tackling societal challenges with skills and connections to scale their ventures. “Rather than offering grants or working through NGOs, we empower entrepreneurs to solve problems and create jobs,” he said.

Cascador’s Director, Trish Thomas, revealed that the 2024 curriculum now includes practical projects, such as a three-week customer research initiative, to help entrepreneurs apply their learning in real-world business scenarios. “Our curriculum fosters deeper learning and stronger bonds among participants,” she noted.

In response to Nigeria’s challenging business climate, Cascador awarded $5,000 personal development stipends to each 2024 cohort member, acknowledging the difficulties posed by inflation, strict lending standards, and limited capital access.

The program concluded with a pitch day, where $50,000 in prizes were awarded to top participants:

– $20,000 Impact Award – Chioma Ifeanyi-Eze (Accounting hub) for her Data Entry Academy, which promotes digital literacy.

– $20,000 Pitch Competition Winner – Godwin Benson (Tuteria) for his tutoring platform connecting students, including those with special learning needs, to skilled tutors.

– $10,000 Exemplary Cascador Award – Oluwaseyi Adefemi (Drive45 Mobility) for his leadership and innovative subscription-based vehicle ownership model.

Programme Director Amanda Etuk announced that Cascador will expand alumni support with annual loans, investment opportunities, and continuous mentorship. “Through additional funding, we will provide capital and ongoing education to help founders scale their businesses,” she said.

As Cascador enhances its 2025 program, DeLucia reaffirmed the organization’s dedication to fostering a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem in Nigeria. “By sharing expertise, connections, and capital, we hope to contribute to a strong economy and a culture of giving back.”
