Non-governmental organization Chinwe Bode-Akinwande Foundation (CBA Foundation) has revealed that 70% of its proceeds are directed toward empowering widows through business setup, skill acquisition, and other essential support.
This was announced on Saturday during the Walk4Hope2024 event in Lagos, where the foundation also called on the government to implement economic reforms to improve the lives of widows and the less privileged.
Founder Chinwe Bode-Akinwande highlighted the foundation’s impact since its inception in 2015, stating, “Approximately 70% of our proceeds go towards setting up businesses for underprivileged widows, skill acquisition training, medical outreaches, food distribution, educational support of children, and advocacy. Our audited books are up to date and available upon request.”
She condemned the mistreatment of widows and urged authorities to take action. “These widows are dehumanized painfully. Nothing happens because they are vulnerable. This is the time to speak up, listen, and push for solutions. We must hold those in authority accountable,” she emphasized.
The foundation’s initiatives are driven by a five-point agenda, including medical outreach, skill acquisition, food and clothing distribution, and counseling. Since 2015, it has consistently worked to empower widows and disadvantaged children through partnerships, advocacy, and capacity building.
