The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Olayemi Cardoso, has been appointed to lead Nigeria’s delegation to the 2025 World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) Annual Meetings in Washington, D.C., scheduled to begin on Monday, October 13.

Cardoso, who serves as Nigeria’s Alternate Governor at the Bretton Woods institutions, will represent the country in place of the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, who is currently indisposed. The delegation will also include the Minister of State for Finance, Doris Uzoka-Anete.

According to a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, the meetings will feature key sessions such as the Development Committee Plenary on October 16 and the International Monetary and Financial Committee meeting on October 17.

Nigeria’s participation is expected to centre on global economic stability, development financing, and reforms affecting emerging markets. The agenda will also include regional briefings, press engagements, and high-level forums focused on international development, financial markets, and macroeconomic cooperation.

Cardoso’s leadership of the delegation comes at a time when Nigeria continues to pursue economic reforms, monetary stability, and renewed engagement with global financial partners.
