The Chybee Entrepreneur Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women, has provided over 50 women with business support grants, including sewing machines and cash assistance. The event, held in Asaba, Delta State, marked the third edition of the Chybee Business Support Grant initiative.
Lady Chinyere Chukwudi Zimako, founder of the foundation, revealed that the program began last year, empowering 10 women with grants of N100,000 each. In April 2024, the second phase saw 30 more women receive the same support. This latest edition expanded to 50 beneficiaries, with 10 women receiving sewing machines and 40 others receiving N100,000 to boost their businesses.
“This event not only empowered women but also showcased their entrepreneurial skills through the *Chybee Fashion Exhibition and Business Support Grant*,” Zimako said. “Our foundation is committed to supporting women and girls with viable business ideas, helping them become financially stable and capable of caring for their families.”
The foundation has empowered over 90 women and girls within just 10 months, with a broader goal of reaching one million women across Africa. Zimako emphasized that this initiative aligns with her vision to combat poverty and hunger by empowering women as entrepreneurs.
Hon. Bridget Anyafulu, a member of the Delta State House of Assembly, praised the foundation’s efforts and urged beneficiaries to make the most of the support they received. She also encouraged the women to use their newfound skills to support their families and promote peace in their homes.
Mr. Ryan Lavelle, Founder and CEO of Mpowa, one of the event’s partners, added that empowering vulnerable groups, especially women, is crucial for addressing both environmental and socio-economic challenges.
The Chybee Entrepreneur Foundation continues to make strides in alleviating poverty and fostering entrepreneurship among women, with hopes of creating long-term change across Africa.
