Climate Action Africa (CAA), an organization advocating for climate resilience in Nigeria, has urged stakeholders to collaborate in addressing the nation’s current and future climate challenges.
During a media briefing in Lagos, Grace Oluchi Mbah, Co-Founder and Executive Director of CAA, emphasized the importance of embracing clean cooking, waste separation, and promoting a green economy to combat the climatic conditions faced in Nigeria and across Africa. She highlighted the impact of people’s lifestyles on the environment and emphasized the need to invest in climate action to secure the future.
Mbah stressed the necessity of a united front across all stakeholder groups to address rising temperatures, erratic weather patterns, and environmental degradation. She emphasized that every sector, including government, industry leaders, scientists, community organizations, and citizens, has a role to play in building a more resilient and sustainable future.
The climate expert underscored the importance of fostering partnerships in policy development and implementation, innovation and technology, community mobilization and education, as well as investment and financing.
Mbah also announced the upcoming Climate Action Africa Forum 2024 (CAAF24), scheduled for June 19-20 in Lagos. The forum aims to bring together key stakeholders from across Africa to discuss innovative solutions and develop concrete action plans for tackling climate change. She highlighted the introduction of the Deal Room, a dynamic marketplace connecting Africa’s innovators with investors to accelerate impactful deals for climate action and sustainable development. Additionally, CAA will partner with the Founder Institute to provide ongoing support to African innovators through a post-accelerator program following the conference.
