FCMB Launches Accelerator Program to Empower Over One Million SMEs in Nigeria
Share

First City Monument Bank (FCMB), a leading proponent of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria, has extended credit exceeding N1.343 trillion to over 98,000 SMEs across various sectors since 2018. Among this credit is N3 billion directed towards more than 50 firms dedicated to advancing clean energy solutions.

In acknowledgment of FCMB’s exceptional contributions, the Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN) bestowed honors upon the bank at its 2023 Service Ambassadors Awards held in Lagos. FCMB was awarded for being the “Deposit Money Bank with the Highest Impact in the DBN Focus States” and the “Participating Financial Institution with the Highest Disbursement to Green Projects.” These awards underscore FCMB’s commitment to impactful lending, actively fostering economic growth and employment opportunities across Nigeria.

Mrs. Yemisi Edun, the Managing Director of FCMB, expressed her gratitude for the awards and highlighted FCMB’s partnership with the Development Bank of Nigeria, empowering SMEs to scale up and significantly contribute to Nigeria’s economic development. She emphasized FCMB’s dedication to meeting customer expectations and supporting the broader business community.

FCMB aims to provide training to over 1 million SMEs through Technical Assistance valued at €325,000 granted by Proparco and $275,000 from the African Development Bank (AfDB). These initiatives will facilitate the onboarding and empowerment of SMEs, especially women entrepreneurs, under FCMB’s SheVentures proposition and those operating in high-impact sectors such as agriculture, renewable energy, and digital innovation.

First City Monument Bank, a member of the FCMB Group Plc, is steadfast in its commitment to fostering inclusive and sustainable growth within its communities. The bank aims to build a supportive ecosystem rooted in Africa, connecting people, capital, and markets to drive economic progress.
