DJ Cuppy, foremost Nigerian female Disc Jockey, and daughter of Femi Otedola, Nigerian businessman, philanthropist, and former chairman of Forte Oil PLC, has called on Nigerians to support small scale business even in the times of COVID-19 pandemic.
DJ Cuppy who made this call after getting a delivery of some products she ordered for from a small business.
Small Businesses who fall under businesses categorised as MSMEs ( Micro Small and Medium Enterprises) contribute significantly to the gross domestic products (GDP) of Nigeria and Africa as a whole.
According to a report from the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Nigeria has over 37.07 million micro, small and medium-scale enterprises (MSMEs) and they account for more than 84 percent of total jobs in the country. The report also claimed that the MSME enterprises in Nigeria also account for about 48.5 percent of the gross domestic product, GDP, as well as about 7.27 percent of goods and services exported out of the country.
