The Enterprise Development Centre (EDC), a leading enterprise development institution in Africa, and the Women Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (WCCIMA), a movement under the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry Mines & Agriculture (NACCIMA), have announced a strategic alliance to empower 10,000 women entrepreneurs aged 18-35 across Nigeria.

This partnership is part of the Transforming Nigerian Youths Program, an initiative in collaboration with the Mastercard Foundation. The program aims to equip young people with the skills, knowledge, and networks to start and grow their businesses, thereby contributing to Nigeria’s economic development. It focuses on digital, agriculture, and creative industries, covering topics such as business planning, marketing, financial management, innovation, and social entrepreneurship. Additionally, the program offers mentorship, access to finance, and networking opportunities for participants.

The announcement of this strategic alliance was made at a press briefing attended by representatives from EDC, WCCIMA, and the media.

Mrs. Nneka Okekearu, Director of EDC, expressed excitement about the alliance, stating, “We are thrilled to partner with WCCIMA to empower 10,000 women entrepreneurs across Nigeria. This program will enable more women within the WCCIMA network to enhance their capacity, achieve greater impact, and experience growth.”

Ms. Weyinmi Eribo, DG of WCCIMA, emphasized the significance of the alliance, saying, “This partnership with EDC and Mastercard Foundation marks a significant effort to empower 10,000 young women entrepreneurs in Nigeria, fostering economic growth and innovation across vital sectors. We believe that beneficiaries will be better equipped to run sustainable businesses, scale up, and create more job opportunities.”

Under the agreement, EDC will oversee all activities and components required for the implementation of the Transforming Nigerian Youths Program, including capacity building and business mentoring for women.

The program is open to women aged 18-35 who are running businesses or startups. Participation is free, but applicants must commit to attending all training sessions and completing their growth plans. Interested women can apply online at bit.ly/tnywccima.
