Edo State Government has rolled out a N1 billion interest-free loan scheme to support small businesses and traders across the state as part of efforts to stimulate local enterprise and job creation.
Governor Monday Okpehbolo, who announced the initiative during the celebration of his administration’s first anniversary, said the loan programme is designed to ease access to finance for micro, small, and medium-scale enterprises (MSMEs) while fostering economic resilience.
He added that the scheme, which complements the over 10,000 direct and indirect jobs created within his first year in office, reflects his administration’s commitment to “practical governance that touches lives.”
“Our focus is on empowering our people. The N1 billion loan is interest-free to ensure that small businesses can grow without the burden of high repayment costs,” Okpehbolo said.
The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to sustain financial prudence, infrastructural renewal, and human capital development under the SHINE Agenda, which aims to build a stronger, inclusive economy for Edo residents.
