Egbin Power Launches Internship Program to Empower Nigeria’s Future Power Sector Leaders
Share

Egbin Power Plc has launched its six-month internship program, Egbin PowerUp, aimed at advancing technology in Nigeria and strengthening the country’s power sector. This initiative offers students from various Nigerian universities an immersive experience to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical application within the energy industry.

The PowerUp program provides students from disciplines such as engineering, industrial science, IT, and environmental safety with hands-on technical training at Egbin’s power plant. Through real-world projects, participants enhance their skills, boost creativity, and sharpen problem-solving abilities, gaining invaluable professional experience alongside seasoned experts.

Mokhtar Bounour, CEO of Egbin Power, highlighted the importance of equipping young Nigerians with practical knowledge to prepare them for the future. “At Egbin Power, we believe that investing in our nation’s youth is investing in Nigeria’s future. The PowerUp program ignites passions and hones the skills of young minds, making them key players in Nigeria’s energy revolution,” said Bounour. He added that the initiative aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 4, which promotes inclusive and equitable quality education.

The current cohort, which began in July, includes students from top institutions like the University of Lagos, Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), Obafemi Awolowo University, and more. Through this internship, Egbin Power continues to contribute to the growth of the power sector and Nigeria’s prosperity by nurturing the next generation of energy leaders.
