Ekiti Partners with Netherlands to Boost Agribusiness SMEs and Youth Employment
Share

Ekiti State is strengthening plans to grow its agribusiness SME ecosystem through a new partnership with the Netherlands. Governor of Ekiti State received the Consul General of the Netherlands, Michel Deelen, and his team, where both parties discussed collaboration in agricultural technology, value chain development, and capacity building.

The Governor reaffirmed that agriculture remains central to Ekiti’s economic strategy, highlighting initiatives such as the “Bring Back Youth Into Agriculture” programme, which has empowered over 5,000 young people to build livelihoods in farming, processing, and food innovation.

He noted that with the right investment and partnerships, agriculture can tackle unemployment, reduce poverty, and strengthen food security.

The partnership with the Netherlands, renowned for agricultural innovation, is expected to open new opportunities for small and medium-scale farmers and agripreneurs in irrigation, processing, and export development.

For MSMEs, the collaboration marks a step toward scaling agribusiness productivity, expanding market access, and positioning Ekiti as a hub for sustainable agricultural growth.
