FATE Foundation Trains 320 Nigerians in Aspiring Entrepreneurs Program

The FATE Foundation has successfully trained 320 aspiring entrepreneurs through its Aspiring Entrepreneurs Programme (AEP) Futuremakers edition. This initiative aims to bridge the inequality gap in Nigeria by promoting economic inclusion for young people in underserved communities, including youths and persons with disabilities.

 

About the Initiative

Futuremakers by Standard Chartered:

– Global Initiative: Futuremakers is Standard Chartered Bank’s (SCB) global initiative designed to tackle inequality and promote economic inclusion.

– Focus: It targets young people in underserved communities, particularly focusing on youths and persons with disabilities.

– Sponsorship and Support: The two-year initiative was sponsored by the Standard Chartered Foundation (SBF) and supported by Youth Business International (YBI).

 

Program Execution

Training and Empowerment:

– Participants: The programme trained 320 participants across eight cohorts, with each cohort comprising 40 entrepreneurs.

– Locations: Training took place in Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, and Ekiti States.

– Gender Distribution: The program had a significant focus on female participation, with 70 percent of the participants being female and 30 percent male.

  – Awareness Promotion: “We are delighted to host the maiden edition of the SC Pop Up. The event is designed to promote awareness of the Bank’s Supplier Diversity and Inclusion strategy for small and women-owned businesses.”

  – Support for Entrepreneurs: “It also amplifies the strategic support the Bank provides to aspiring entrepreneurs including those in tertiary institutions and entrepreneurs living with disability through our various Futuremakers Community Impact initiatives.”

This initiative not only provides essential skills and support for budding entrepreneurs but also plays a critical role in fostering economic inclusion and reducing inequality in Nigeria.
