The Federal Polytechnic Offa has secured funding under the Nigeria/Czech Republic Joint Research and Development Fund to lead a pioneering project in Aeroponics Farming. This initiative is part of a bilateral agreement between Nigeria and the Czech Republic to support research, development, and innovation across various sectors.

The Delta-2 Program formalized through an agreement signed at the Technology Orientation Centre in Abuja, will allocate funds to selected projects. NASENI, through its Executive Vice Chairman and CEO, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, highlighted the importance of collaboration, creation, and commercialization in driving technological innovation. He emphasized the goal of not only creating prototypes but also ensuring the market availability and usability of the developed technology.

Among the 25 selected final-stage proposals, the Federal Polytechnic Offa stood out as the sole Polytechnic institution. Their project focuses on Aeroponics Farming, specifically the cultivation of tomatoes, with the aim to commercialize the output, creating job opportunities and generating revenue for the Polytechnic.

Reacting to this achievement, Dr. Kadiri Kamoru Oluwatoyin FNSE, the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, applauded the Federal Government’s investment in technological advancement and its impact on sectors like Agriculture, Mining, and Manufacturing. He expressed gratitude to NASENI and the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic for funding the Polytechnic’s Aeroponics Farming project.

This initiative is part of several selected projects across various institutions, including bioethanol production, agro-waste conversion, and industrial wastewater purification, aiming to foster innovation and drive positive transformation in Nigeria’s technology landscape.

The Federal Polytechnic Offa affirmed its commitment to effectively utilize the grant for the intended Aeroponics Farming project, reinforcing its position as a pivotal institution in Nigeria’s technological growth and development.
