Madam Sylvia Tweneboah-Koduah, the Chief Executive Officer of Women In Entrepreneurship Awards (WIEA), has urged women entrepreneurs to utilize social media to create visibility for their businesses and attract potential clients and investors.
She revealed this in an interview on the sidelines of the 2022 edition of WIEA held in Accra claiming businesses needed to embrace digital tools to be able to showcase their products and services to the world and tell their own stories.
WIEA aims at empowering and recognising the impact of women in the business industry and contributing to Ghana’s economic growth.
The WIEA-instituted Awards also identify, honor, and recognize female entrepreneurs who contribute to economic progress and advance the cause of women’s empowerment in Ghana.
Madam Tweneboah-Koduah expressed that social media is a potent tool, but some people have failed to grasp its impact.
Regarding WIEA 2022, she mentioned that the majority of the nominees this year were well-known via social media as a result of having displayed their work, which the Board found impressive.
One of the important highlights, according to the CEO, was honoring those nominees who fell short of taking home the top prize in their respective categories.
She explained that the Board carefully considered and chose the participants who were performing so well therefore it is important to acknowledge their accomplishments and inspire them to pursue excellence.
Saying: “I’m glad they all accepted the recognition award; in fact, they were not expecting any award at all, but the Board insisted that we recognise all these women who have been shortlisted”.
The WIEG President, Madam Tweneboah-Koduah, urged women to examine themselves, recognize their talent, and turn it into a business that would help them create stable incomes.
According to Dr. Loretta Sarpong, the head of the Ellevate Desk at Ecobank Ghana PLC, women play significant roles in society, and Ecobank has established a desk exclusively for women-owned enterprises in recognition of this responsibility.
She reaffirmed Ecobank’s dedication to empowering women and said the Bank would work with companies to offer both financial and non-financial help.
