The Federal Government has announced significant cash rewards and grants at the 2nd edition of the national Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) clinic, aiming to bolster support for small businesses and foster economic growth.
Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima revealed the government’s initiatives during the 2nd Extended National MSME Clinics held at the June 12 Cultural Centre in Abeokuta, Ogun State. He disclosed that each exhibitor at the clinic would receive a cash grant of N150,000, courtesy of private sector support and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Additionally, over 200 owners of new stores at the Modern Adire Shared Facility in Asero, Abeokuta, would receive a grant of N100,000 each.
Senator Shettima emphasized that the national MSME clinic serves as a vital link between the people and the government, aiming to provide timely interventions and support to enterprises across the country. He commended Ogun State for its commitment to supporting federal government initiatives and emphasized the strategic importance of the Expanded SMSME Clinics in fortifying small businesses.
The clinics provide platforms for small businesses to present their challenges and seek intervention from monetary agencies, streamlining the process of accessing support. Senator Shettima highlighted the immediate financial support offered to exhibitors and the opportunity for small businesses to register with the Corporate Affairs Commission and obtain their certificates within a day.
Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting small and medium enterprises through initiatives like the Small and Medium Enterprises Industrial Land Acquisition Scheme (SILAS). He announced various incentives for SMEs, including conditional grants, rebates on taxes and levies, and incentives for industrial ownership.
Special Adviser to the Vice President on Small and Medium Enterprises, Mr. Tola Adekunle Johnson, acknowledged the fruitful collaboration between the federal and state governments, highlighting Ogun and Benue as beneficiaries of the program. State Commissioner for Industry, Trade, and Investment, Mr. Adebola Sofela, emphasized the clinics’ role in addressing challenges faced by SMEs and urged participants to leverage the opportunities presented to grow their businesses.
The Vice President also commissioned the Modern Adire Shared Facility at Adire International Market Asero and the National MSME Clinics, Ultra-Modern Fashion Hub, Ajebo Road, all in Abeokuta, underscoring the government’s commitment to supporting small businesses and fostering economic growth.
