Share

The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (FMFS), Dr. Ernest Umakhihe, has sanctioned retired employees to participate in the Agricultural and Rural Management Training Institute (ARMTI) in Abuja.

In an effort to enhance post-retirement productivity and foster independence, retirees have received tailored starter packs to align with their chosen areas. Dr. Umakhihe highlighted this initiative as part of the ministry’s commitment to the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, focusing on food security, economic growth, poverty eradication, and inclusiveness.

The workshop concentrated on bolstering entrepreneurship skills in agro-allied enterprises, aimed at empowering retirees to be self-reliant and contribute to the ministry’s core objectives. Dr. Umakhihe emphasized the retirees’ pivotal role in ensuring food availability for Nigerians, urging them to embrace continuous learning, adaptability, and innovation.

Udo Effik, Director of Reform Coordination, Service Improvement, and Innovation, emphasized the workshop’s alignment with the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP 25). It specifically targeted poultry, vegetable, and potato farming, intending to bolster food sufficiency and economic growth.

Deputy Director Engr. Ayodele Julius conveyed appreciation on behalf of the retirees, acknowledging the value of the initiative in preparing them for life after service. He assured that the provided starter packs would be maximized for productive use.
