The Federal Government has begun discussions with Flutterwave Technology Solutions Limited to establish a strategic partnership aimed at advancing Nigeria’s digital economy and broadening financial inclusion, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The meeting took place at the Ministry of Finance in Abuja, led by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, alongside officials from the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI) and senior executives of Flutterwave.
According to the Ministry, talks centred on how government can leverage Flutterwave’s technology infrastructure to expand access to finance, enhance cross-border payments, and support SMEs in reaching wider markets. Flutterwave, which operates in more than 30 African countries, demonstrated its digital payment solutions designed to simplify regional trade and enable African businesses to scale.
The company outlined how its platform is helping entrepreneurs connect with customers across different markets, contributing to job creation and economic activity. Both MOFI and Flutterwave agreed to develop a collaborative roadmap aligned with national economic goals—focusing on digital payments, public finance technology, and innovation-driven growth.
If formalised, the partnership is expected to strengthen Nigeria’s fintech landscape, improve cross-border transaction systems, and boost investor confidence in the country’s digital economy.
