The Federal Government of Nigeria has unveiled a new Online Citizenship and Business Management Platform aimed at streamlining the application process for business permits, expatriate quotas, and Nigerian citizenship. This digital upgrade is part of ongoing reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, focusing on transparency, efficiency, and improved service delivery.
According to a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, the new system is built to eliminate delays and enhance user experience. By digitizing key services, the government aims to reduce bureaucracy and make interactions with the Ministry of Interior faster and more accessible for both individuals and businesses.
The platform offers several core features. It allows users to apply for and manage business permits, ensuring legal operations for both local and international companies. It also includes an Expatriate Quota System that helps firms hire foreign talent in compliance with Nigeria’s immigration regulations. Additionally, the Citizenship Administration and Management System provides an end-to-end digital process for applying, tracking, and managing Nigerian citizenship applications.
The public, corporate bodies, and other stakeholders can access the platform via the Ministry of Interior’s website at https://interior.gov.ng or directly through https://candb.interior.gov.ng. For assistance, users can contact the ministry via email at [email protected]. This development is part of a broader national strategy to modernize government services. At the 2025 Global Government Summit in Singapore, Nigeria introduced Service-Wise GPT, an AI-driven assistant designed to enhance the federal civil service by automating tasks like policy drafting and compliance monitoring. Meanwhile, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is working on a one-stop digital portal expected to digitize 75 percent of government services by 2027.
The Ministry of Interior has also rolled out a contactless passport renewal system for Nigerians living abroad. The system, now live in countries such as Canada, the USA, Mexico, Jamaica, Brazil, and several parts of Europe and Asia, enables eligible citizens to renew their passports online without visiting immigration offices.
Through these digital initiatives, the Nigerian government is pushing toward a more transparent, efficient, and citizen-centered public service model.
