The Federal Government will train seven million young Nigerians in digital and professional skills over the next two years, creating millions of jobs, Youth Development Minister Ayodele Olawande says.

He made the announcement at the Strategic Youth Leadership Conference 2025, organised by the ministry in collaboration with the National Defence College (NDC), to equip youths with contemporary knowledge in digital and professional education.

Olawande described the conference as a platform for strategic thinking and leadership, aimed at building proactive agents of national development. He added that the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration is committed to positioning Nigerian youths in the global digital economy under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He highlighted key initiatives, including the Nigerian Youth Academy and the National Learning Platform, which will provide digital and vocational training opportunities for seven million young people by 2027.

According to him, the plan includes a three-million technical talent programme focused on areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and software engineering. “The administration aims to achieve 70 per cent national digital literacy by 2027 to ensure effective youth participation in the global digital economy,” he said.

Olawande further disclosed that the government has introduced a labour and employment programme targeting 2.5 million jobs through enterprise training and employment matches. He emphasised the importance of mentorship, quality education, economic empowerment, and inclusive governance in unlocking the potential of Nigerian youths.

“The future of Nigeria is in the hands and minds of our young people today,” he said, describing their energy, creativity, and courage as the country’s greatest assets.
