The Federal Government has concluded a three-day intensive entrepreneurship training for 250 women and youths in Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State, aimed at promoting self-reliance and small-scale manufacturing.
The participants were trained on the production of disinfectants, bleaching agents, and odour control products during the workshop, which took place at the Uhonmora Civic Centre in the heart of the community.
The training, organised by the National Board for Technology Incubation in collaboration with GGF Nigeria Limited, combined both theoretical and practical sessions. Participants worked in groups to produce disinfectants and other household products under the supervision of facilitators.
Upon completion of the programme, the Federal Government provided startup capital to the beneficiaries to enable them to begin local production in their respective communities.
Speaking during the closing ceremony, the lead consultant, Magbagbeola Abass Adebayo, explained that the initiative was designed to empower participants with practical skills and financial support to help them build sustainable livelihoods. He urged them to use the funds responsibly for business growth rather than personal expenses.
Also addressing the gathering, Aisha Oladipo encouraged participants to apply the knowledge gained during the training to improve their living conditions and support their families.
The Vice President of Uhonmora Ora Progressives Union Worldwide, Mrs Evangelina Agbai, commended the Federal Government and the programme organisers for bringing the initiative to Owan West. She advised the beneficiaries to make effective use of their new skills and the capital provided.
The beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the government for the opportunity, promising to adhere to the scheme’s guidelines and use the funds to start production-based ventures.
The event featured group demonstrations of the products made during the training and concluded with the presentation of certificates and distribution of the produced items to participants.
