A new agricultural innovation platform, Farmlinkup, has been launched to connect farmers, consumers, and industrialists across Nigeria and beyond.
The platform aims to transform the country’s agribusiness landscape by creating a digital marketplace where farmers can showcase and sell their produce directly to buyers while reducing post-harvest losses and market inefficiencies.
Speaking at the launch in Ibadan, the founder, Omoyele Omonira, described Farmlinkup as a farmers’ hub designed to empower agricultural producers and promote youth participation in farming.
He explained that the platform addresses a major challenge faced by farmers, perishability of produce, by providing a faster and more efficient sales channel.
“Most agricultural products are perishable and often cause huge losses if not sold early enough. Farmlinkup helps farmers sell faster while connecting them to consumers who need fresh, nutritious farm products,” Omoyele said.
He added that the platform also connects industrialists and service providers to agricultural producers, creating a more integrated and sustainable value chain.
According to him, Farmlinkup goes beyond being just an e-commerce site; it is a complete agribusiness ecosystem with features such as logistics coordination, transparent pricing, and advocacy for government incentives and soft loans to support farmers. The platform, which already has over 50,000 subscribers, allows farmers to upload pictures of their products along with contact details so that buyers can reach them directly for purchase and delivery.
Omoyele noted that the goal is to digitize agriculture and position Africa as the food basket of the world within the next five years. “We are revolutionising the agricultural system whereby a farmer can take pictures of his farm produce, upload them, and instantly connect with buyers.
It’s about creating a seamless, secure space where producers can showcase and sell fresh produce while buyers enjoy fair pricing and easy access,” he said.
He also called for partnerships with government agencies and private firms to strengthen the agricultural ecosystem through seminars, capacity-building programmes, and technical support for farmers. “Farmlinkup is not just about technology; it’s about empowerment, inclusion, and national growth. We want to give young Nigerians a reason to see agriculture as a profitable and innovative career path,” he added.
Omoyele further shared that the organisation was recently honoured by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, during the Oodua Special Recognition Award (OSRA) for its contribution to agricultural development in Nigeria.
By bridging the gap between farmers, consumers, and agribusiness stakeholders, Farmlinkup seeks to redefine how agricultural trade operates in Nigeria, making it more efficient, transparent, and profitable for everyone involved.
