Intercontinental Distillers Limited, producers of Eagle Aromatic Schnapps and Squadron Dark Rum, has empowered artisans and technicians with tools and work equipment to enhance productivity and support sustainable craft practices during the Lagos edition of the 2025 Nigerian Artisans and Technicians Conference. The three-day event, themed Artisan Innovation: Driving Sustainable Practices & Green Technology, brought together practitioners across sectors such as construction, fashion, catering, mechanical services and electrical works, offering a platform for hands-on learning and cross-industry collaboration.
The conference featured workshops, live demonstrations and panel discussions centred on modern skill development and environmentally friendly production techniques. As part of its empowerment drive, the company handed out industrial mixers, tailoring machines, toolboxes and energy-efficient cake ovens to participants, underscoring the push for more efficient, climate-conscious approaches to small-scale manufacturing and service delivery. Organisers noted that the equipment distribution was designed to help artisans adopt greener methods that reduce operational strain while improving output quality.
Squadron Dark Rum also left a notable footprint at the gathering as caterers used the product for baking and grilling sessions that highlighted new culinary applications. Facilitators said these activities reinforced creativity in food processing while aligning with the event’s sustainability theme. Representatives of the company described the initiative as a reflection of its commitment to advancing the artisan economy, with emphasis on skills, innovation and long-term growth.
The event convener stated that the platform was designed to help artisans improve their technical capacity and economic competitiveness through exposure to new technology and sustainable business practices. He stressed that upskilling artisans for a future built on green craftsmanship is vital for a resilient workforce. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the sponsors and organisers, describing the support as timely and impactful. Many added that the tools and knowledge gained would help them scale their ventures, widen income streams, and embed sustainability into daily operations.
