The Unique Precious Care Foundation (UPCF) has empowered over 100 vulnerable children from orphanage homes across Akwa Ibom State through its 2025 Children’s Christmas Party and Back-to-School Empowerment Programme.
The initiative, which combined educational support with a festive outreach, targeted children from underserved backgrounds to help them return to school with essential learning materials and renewed confidence ahead of the new academic term.
Speaking at the event, the Founder and Chairperson of UPCF, Pastor (Mrs) Florence Umana, said the programme reflects the foundation’s long-standing commitment to humanitarian service, child welfare, and social development.
She explained that UPCF, which has operated for over 25 years, was established to provide structured support for children, women, and other vulnerable groups, evolving from a personal initiative into a registered organisation with sustained community impact.
According to Umana, the foundation has implemented several interventions over the years, including scholarship awards, payment of hospital bills, sponsorship of medical procedures, provision of educational materials, visits to orphanage homes, and empowerment programmes for women across Akwa Ibom State.
She noted that while the Christmas season symbolises love and generosity, education remains a critical pathway out of poverty, adding that the Back-to-School Empowerment Programme was designed to ensure that vulnerable children are not left behind academically.
Beneficiaries of the programme were drawn from four orphanage homes across the state: Mother Charles Walker Children’s Home in Anua, Uyo Local Government Area; Friends of the Needy Foster Home in Okobo; Motherless Babies Home in Mkpok, Onna Local Government Area; and Holy Family Sisters of the Needy Orphanage in Ikpe Ikot Ankon, Ini Local Government Area.
Umana said the foundation intentionally celebrates children in orphanage homes as it would biological children, reinforcing a sense of inclusion, dignity, and hope for the future.
She expressed appreciation to volunteers, partners, donors, and supporters for their continued commitment, noting that collective action remains essential to sustaining social impact initiatives. She also encouraged the children to remain focused, pursue education diligently, and believe in their potential to succeed.
The event featured the distribution of school materials, gifts, and a festive celebration, underscoring UPCF’s focus on combining immediate support with long-term human capital development.
