The Abosede Tomori Foundation (ATF) made its debut in Lagos on Saturday with a flagship health outreach programme and financial grants aimed at empowering unemployed individuals and supporting small and micro businesses.
The launch, held in Ejigbo, Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II, was spearheaded by the foundation’s Chairman and Special Assistant to the Minister of Solid Minerals Development on Media, Segun Tomori. He stated that the foundation was established to immortalize his late mother, Abosede Adebisi Tomori, and to continue her legacy of generosity and compassion.
“I lost her when I was still finding my feet—when I couldn’t repay her kindness or give her the life she deserved,” Tomori shared. “I made a vow to ensure her name lives on in the hearts of the less privileged, not just in this constituency, but across the country.”
Tomori explained that the foundation is focused on building communities where dignity takes precedence over struggle. ATF’s mission includes supporting the vulnerable through targeted interventions across five thematic areas: health outreach for the underserved, skills development and scholarships for disadvantaged youth, school intervention programmes to aid access to basic education, food packs for vulnerable families, and cash grants to support Micro, Small, and Medium Scale Enterprises (MSMEs).
ATF’s maiden outreach provided free medical services to over 250 residents in the Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II, covering both Ejigbo and Isolo LCDAs. In addition, fifty micro and small business owners each received N50,000 in cash support totaling N2.5 millionwhile over 130 bags of 5kg rice were distributed to indigent families.
“This is just the beginning,” Tomori said, revealing plans to expand the foundation’s reach across Lagos State and eventually, the country.
Representing the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, Special Adviser Hon. Kehinde Bamigbetan commended the initiative and praised Tomori’s drive and dedication to public service. He described the foundation’s intervention areas as “brilliant, compassionate and timely,” and urged Nigerians to emulate such efforts to support grassroots development in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
Also delivering a goodwill message, the Director-General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Dr. Muhammed Bulama, described Tomori as a rare young leader with great promise. He affirmed that the foundation’s objectives align with FRCN’s mission of uplifting and uniting Nigerians, and pledged the corporation’s full support in helping ATF reach more communities nationwide.
The launch event was attended by several dignitaries, including representatives of the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, the Director-General of FRCN, the National Orientation Agency, and the Solid Minerals Development Fund, along with community leaders, market association heads, and political figures from Ejigbo and Isolo LCDAs.
