The Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) Nigeria has called on women-led businesses to prioritise vision, values, and long-term impact as the foundation for sustainable growth and success.
The announcement was made during the Women Enterprise Day, themed ‘Women Who Lead, Ventures That Thrive,’ part of the 2025 Global Entrepreneurship Week activities. Organised in partnership with Providus Bank, the event brought together women entrepreneurs across sectors to discuss strategies for scaling businesses, accessing funding, and fostering collaboration.
Abimbola Balogun, co-founder of SoFresh, advised women entrepreneurs to look beyond short-term profits. “Women can do it. The key is clarity of vision and purpose, supported by systems that protect health, finances, and wellbeing while building high-performance teams,” she said.
Dr Nnenna Ugwu, Head of Alumni Relations at the Enterprise Development Centre, Pan-Atlantic University, urged women to overcome fear and believe in their capabilities. “As a woman, believe in yourself and conquer fear. What matters is that we succeed, regardless of setbacks,” she said.
Damilola Feyide, Lead for SME Development & Strategy at Providus Bank, highlighted opportunities for collaboration and funding. “Step out, collaborate, and grow your business so our nation can prosper,” she said.
Shuhda Mohammed, founder of Tri-Point Academy, emphasised the need to celebrate women entrepreneurs and amplify their impact, especially in northern Nigeria.
GEN Nigeria said the event reinforced its mission to equip women entrepreneurs with the skills, networks, and resources needed to build sustainable, thriving ventures across Nigeria and beyond.
