Glovo, a prominent food delivery platform, has announced its expansion into Port Harcourt, Nigeria, aiming to bolster local businesses and enhance service delivery. This commitment was made by Mrs. Lamide Akinola, General Manager of Glovo Nigeria, in a statement in Lagos on Thursday.

Akinola emphasized the importance of partnering with local businesses: “By partnering with local businesses, we aim to support their growth while also meeting the evolving needs of our customers.” She highlighted Port Harcourt as a vibrant economic hub where Glovo’s services will cater to rising demand.

The expansion offers local businesses a platform to connect with an expanding customer base, providing access to a range of services from meal orders to same-day grocery deliveries. “We are excited to introduce Glovo’s seamless on-demand platform to the people of Port Harcourt, offering them more than just convenience,” Akinola added.

Chidera Akwuba, Glovo’s Head of Public and Government Relations for Sub-Saharan Africa, noted that Port Harcourt is a strategic market for the company’s growth. She expressed the goal of creating economic opportunities for local businesses by fostering collaborations with stakeholders.

“By partnering with us, local businesses can take advantage of the opportunities we offer to scale and reach new customers,” Akinola quoted Akwuba as saying.

Mr. Kolawole Adeniyi, Head of Commercial at Glovo, indicated that the company plans to collaborate with renowned brands to serve the Port Harcourt market. He highlighted that these partnerships reflect Glovo’s commitment to quality and variety.

Akinola concluded by stating, “By entering the Port Harcourt market, Glovo is set to create new economic opportunities, especially for Small and Medium Enterprises, leveraging innovation to drive efficiencies in quick commerce.”
