In a decisive move to bridge Africa’s digital skills gap, Heirs Technologies has celebrated the graduation of its latest cohorts from the i-Academy Supplementary Technical Engineering Programme (STEP), a hands-on three-month training initiative focused on Cloud Computing and Cybersecurity.

Held at the company’s Lagos training centre, the event reaffirmed Heirs Technologies’ commitment to nurturing homegrown talent capable of driving the continent’s digital transformation.

Launched in 2023, i-Academy delivers practical, immersive training across high-demand areas including network infrastructure, IT operations, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and software development. Participants are mentored by seasoned industry professionals and gain critical soft skills alongside real-world exposure to emerging technologies.

Addressing the graduates, Heirs Technologies Managing Director, Obong Idiong, praised their commitment and resilience, describing them as the next generation of Africa’s tech leaders. “We are immensely proud of our graduates. They represent the future, passionate, skilled, and driven to make an impact. We are not just building a business; we are building people who will shape the future of our continent,” he said.

With more than 100 trainees now graduated from i-Academy, the programme is already leaving a mark on Africa’s tech talent ecosystem.

Vice President of i-Academy, Ivy Ikpeme-Mbakwem, highlighted the vast career opportunities in cybersecurity and cloud computing, urging graduates to stay focused and proactive as they transition into the workforce. “This is just the beginning,” she said. “We are laying the foundation for a digitally empowered Africa.”

The recently completed training saw the Cloud Computing cohort explore critical areas such as cloud application deployment, identity and access management, enterprise architecture design, and simulated threat detection. The Cybersecurity cohort focused on network security, vulnerability assessment, and incident response, all under the guidance of in-house experts.

Looking ahead, Heirs Technologies plans to expand i-Academy’s curriculum to include specialised tracks in Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, and Technical Support, further solidifying its role in shaping the future of Africa’s digital economy.
