Hope Builders Skill Development and Foundation, in collaboration with Beneficence Global Humanitarian Foundation, Diligent Hands International Foundation, Glowing Splints Development Initiative supported by Tyonex Pharmaceutical Ltd; a foremost health provider in Nigeria successfully hosted a transformative three-day program at Peace Estate community at Baruwa, Ipaja in Alimosho Local government Lagos State, to commemorate the INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY. The program aimed to equip women with practical skills for economic empowerment while addressing their health and well-being.
The first two days of the program were dedicated to practical training in various income-generating skills and participants received practical lessons in Baking, Tailoring (Basic Dressmaking), Ankara craft and Home essentials production such as Liquid soap, Hair Cream, Petroleum jelly Bleach and Tile cleaner.
These training sessions aimed to empower women with skills they could leverage for financial stability and survival in the present economic realities. The program also aimed to encourage self-reliance.
On the final day, the focus shifted to healthcare, ensuring that participants had access to FREE MEDICAL CHECKUP. The healthcare covered:
📌 Blood Sugar Level and Blood Pressure Monitoring to detect early signs of diabetes and hypertension.
📌 Eye checkup with corrective glasses and eye drops were also provided.
📌 Cervical Cancer Screening. Women were screened for cervical cancer, and a few were advised to go for comprehensive tests and for further treatment in government Hospital nearest to them.
Qualified medical personnel were also on ground who attended to men and children while drugs donated by Tyonex Pharmaceutical Ltd were administered to the participants.
The medical outreach was also enriched by a mental health talk delivered by Mrs. Helen Taihlor; an experienced mental health practitioner. She gave a practical and insightful talk on depression, anxiety disorders, avoidance situations, and also gave the participants proactive ways to maintain their mental well-being and prevent common health risks.
A total of 150 women aside men and children benefited from this program. They gained valuable skills and medical support that will continually impact their quality of life.
